Boree Lane Wines provided wine for this exciting event held at UNSW Art & Design at Paddington.
Our sponsorship of this event had a special significance for the Clark family. John was a longtime friend from ski lodge days with our then young children and later as members of the Gunyah at North Arm Cove on the Karuah River near Port Stephens. There have been many memorable BBQs with John and his wife Viv, inevitably accompanied by good red wine, a great favourite of his.
Viv and daughter Kath set up this award in his memory and this year invited Boree Lane Wines to sponsor it by providing the wine for the opening event.
Added to that was the connection with Oliver Watts, the erudite curator of the Award, having the challenging task of selecting the 15 finalists from 730 entries! Oliver is the son of an old friend and sailing partner Stafford Watts. So it was a real bonus to hear Oliver’s informative discussion about each of the finalists.
Yet another very satisfying thing is Kath’s organising of artist’s retreats at the Gunyah where they can reside in the peaceful tree framed setting and carry out their nominated project.
