A special attraction starting this Easter for those aged red lovers is a tasting of our 2012 Bordeaux blend (Cabernet Sauvignon Cabernet Franc and Merlot), our 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon and our 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon.
This is a rare chance to sample this trio and the fruits of maturing good red wine. The $15 tasting fee will be deducted from the purchase of any of these three wines.
The 2012 Bordeaux Blend (50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Cabernet Franc and 10% Merlot), displays lovely aromas of black currants and dried fruits that combine with those of raspberries and chocolate. An underlying savouriness adds complexity. Possessing a long palate and an elegant structure this wine showcases the qualities of this cool climate region. The wine-making process has been one of gentle intervention to enhance fruit flavours, maturing the wine in French oak for 18 months with no fining or filtration prior to bottling. A lighter-bodied wine, it is a great food companion and has the potential to age well.
The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon possesses a lovely ripeness, still showing youthful tannins and acidity. Violets and lifted red berries are evident on the nose. It is an interesting comparison to the 2008 with good structure and aging potential and will compliment a range of meat dishes from pastas to roasts.
Awards:
Bronze Medal – 2014 Orange Wine Show
Bronze Medal – 2011 Cowra Wine Show
The 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon is aging well and is displaying a fine structure with bramble fruits and blackcurrants on the palate. It reflects the good conditions of the 2008 vintage and makes a lovely accompaniment to roast lamb or beef. This wine displays the advantages of aging with the integration of the fruit elements with the oak tannins.
