With our vineyard audit in May, the vineyard is now fully certified organic! So, after three years in transition that is a big milestone.
However, as there were no family members who would join the business, I felt the time had come for a new owner to take the reins, with younger energy and plans so that they could make the many decisions needed to take the vineyard forward into a Climate Change future.
I was looking for a proven and well-established local producer who could take over the vineyard, so it would continue to contribute to the growing reputation of the Orange Region. To that end it has now been sold to Philip Shaw Wines with Philip Shaw providing the experience and Daniel Shaw taking over the running of the vineyard. He is very keen on the organic status and will build on this.
The vineyard is in good shape; a big thanks to Geoff Cook for doing such a great job looking after it for the last six years and particularly through a difficult 2020 into 2021. He will continue to help the new owners.
Boree Lane Wines Cellar Door will continue to operate (when COVID restrictions allow) and grapes for future wine will still be sourced from the vineyard.
