October/November News 2020

What an incredible difference from the same time last year. Dry earth, very low dam and struggling vines. Now there are vines bursting forth, the dam is overflowing and the grass growing apace.

2019 Cabernet Franc

Our 2019 Cabernet Franc was bottled in July after maturing in old and new oak. It is displaying lifted flavours of soft red fruits with floral violet overtones. The medium weight palate of bramble fruits and French oak produces a well balanced and lingering combination. Looking good for a pre Christmas release!

The wine will make a perfect companion for a range of dishes from hearty sauced pasta dishes to roast lamb.

New additions to the vineyard

All the way from SA, 700 Chardonnay rootlings to replace the recalcitrant Viognier which after 8 years had failed to really take off. The rootlings have been planted in early November into suitably moist soil thanks to the recent rain. The French Bertrand 76 clone (clone is a viviculture term) should help to add some depth and elegance to the existing grapes.
